Paramount Pictures has released the second full trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of "Ghost in the Shell." Although there are still very few details known about the film, the trailer does paint a better picture regarding the villain and some of the conflict in the film's narrative.

The trailer teases that the villain, Kuze (Michael Pitt), has been watching the Major (Scarlett Johansson) for some time. He tells her this from the shadows after Major leads her team in Section 9 through a raid.

Major's backstory is also teased a little bit in the trailer. Like in some iterations of the franchise, the Major reveals she was in an accident as a child. Her brain was all that survived and it was then transferred into a cybernetic body, Polygon reported.

Kuze then teases her that he knows more and that she had a family and a normal life before her memories were altered and created for her. The trailer also ends with Major stating that while the government may have created her they do not have control over her.

Section 9 leader and founder, Chief Aramaki (Takeshi Kitano), is also hinted in the trailer to have ambiguous morals, Screen Rant reported. While he is quite strict in the anime source material, he is portrayed as a purely benevolent character. The trailer showcases him hiding secrets that even the Major might not be aware of.

Batou (Pilou Asbaek) is also shown both with and without his prosthetic eyes, indicating he will get the operation sometime in the film. It is also possible the scenes without the mechanical eyes take place during a flashback.

Other clips in the trailer are taken directly, almost shot-per-shot, from the 1995 animated film. Some of these include the Major fighting a perp in the water and the other is the Major fighting a large, robotic tank.

"Ghost in the Shell" opens in theaters on March 31. The official trailer can be viewed below:
