In "The Belt," Cyrus will have a phone conversation with the lead character while he is in prison. His face is bruised and his eyes are also swollen. By the looks of it, the character, who was supposed to be the next president of the United States, is being threatened by his other jailmates.

During the conversation, Olivia has a shocked look on her face. According to the synopsis released by ABC, she and the Gladiators will find new and shocking information about the night of Frankie's assassination. If Cyrus is indeed innocent, who is most likely to have killed him?

Here are three characters from "Scandal" Season 6 that may be responsible for having the former governor assassinated.

Jake Ballard

Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) is a very mysterious character. He has nothing much to lose, but everything to gain. He also happens to be Mellie Grant's (Bellamy Young) runningmate, and he was against Cyrus for the position of vice president. Even with only this information considered, Jake already has more than enough motive to put Cyrus in jail.

Rowan Pope

Rowan Pope (Joe Morton), Olivia's dad, is not one to be trusted. Even though Olivia tried to trust him again and again, Rowan managed to destroy the trust of her daughter. Even though he already said that he did not have Frankie assassinated, anything can happen when it is about Rowan.

Marcus Walker

In a more shocking twist, Marcus Walker (Cornelius Smith Jr.) could also be responsible for having Frankie assassinated. Marcus has strong feelings for Mellie and considering the fact that he is power hungry, he wants Mellie to become the next president.

When Marcus noticed that Mellie will not win in the electoral race, he might have taken matter into his own hands by having Frankie assassinated. Marcus might have thought that Mellie will automatically become president if her opponent is killed.
