It has long been rumored that Nina Dobrev and Nikki Reed are feuding about Ian Somerhalder, but the two ladies have finally put the controversy to rest in a series of pictures taken during Dobrev's return to "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.
It has been confirmed that Dobrev will reprise his role as Elena Gilbert in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Executive producer Kevin Williamson shared a photo of Dobrev, together with actor Paul Wesley, on the set of the show.
Executive producer Julie Plec also confirmed Dobrev's highly awaited comeback. "I'm thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended - with Nina back to help us say goodbye," TVLine quoted the producer as saying.
Dobrev's return to the show raised a lot of question about how she'll be working with co-star and ex-boyfriend Somerhalder, especially with rumors swirling that Somerhalder's wife, Nikki Reed, does not approve of their onscreen reunion. Dobrev and Reed slammed the rumors by posting a photo of them together with Somerhalder.
"For the last few years we thought addressing any baseless rumors with silence was the best way. Besides, who wants to respond to made up stories about 'friends backstabbing friends,' 'cheating exes,' or 'cast members exiting shows,'" Reed wrote on her Instagram. "So here's to putting an end to all those fake stories of on set jealousy, betrayal, made-up-friendships lost & women hating women."
It has not been revealed how Dobrev's character, Elena, will return to the show. The last the viewers saw her she was stuck in a sleep state after getting cursed by Kai. The latest "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 trailer suggests, however, that Kai would be willing to break the curse and revive Elena as long as Damon agrees to do something in return.
As to Damon and Elena's reunion, the cast and crew have been mum about any potential spoilers. Somerhalder, however, believes a happily ever after is unlikely to happen. "These guys [Damon and Stefan] have ruined her life, yet everybody wants her to end up with one of them."
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 has four more episodes left. Dobrev's last episode as Elena will air on March 10.
