CBS recently renewed the "Big Bang Theory" for Seasons 11 and 12, and this paves the way for showrunner Steve Molaro and his team to come up with new and exciting storylines for the characters.

Ahead of the network's announcement for renewal, Deadline reported that the original cast members of "Big Bang Theory" are about to close a two-year deal with the network. Previously, Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco expressed their desire to return to the popular sitcom.

Following the renewal, Cuoco shared a GIF of the cast of "Big Bang Theory" expressing her excitement for the confirmation of Seasons 11 and 12 via her Instagram account. The actress captioned the snap by saying that she's honored to be part of the show. Cuoco also thanked everyone who made the renewal possible.

Meanwhile, now that "Big Bang Theory" will be on air at least until Season 12, Molaro and his team will certainly come up with exciting storylines. One of the stories fans have been waiting to see on the show has to do with Sheldon (Parsons) and Amy's (Mayim Bialik) relationship.

In Season 9, Sheldon already had a plan to propose to Amy, but the latter was dating someone else. At that time, Amy thought Sheldon does not have any plans to spend the rest of his life with her so she decided to temporarily call it quits. Later on, Amy and Sheldon made their relationship official. They also had sex for the first time. At present, they are already living together.

But Sheldon's engagement ring has never been revisited in the show since he told Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny about it. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Molaro confirmed that they will eventually write another story about the ring.

"At some point in the near future, it will come up again. It is not going to immediately, but we certainly have not forgotten about it," he said.

"Big Bang Theory" Season 10 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS. Season 11 and 12 will be on air from 2017 to 2018 and 2018 to 2019.
