During a meeting with South African Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Chinese Wang Yi shared that the country vows strengthened coordination with other BRICS members, especially South Africa, in preparation for the upcoming BRICS Leaders Summit, Xinhua News Agency reported.

BRICS is a group composed of five major emerging national economies namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

The said summit is slated to happen in September in the coastal city of Xiamen in southeast China. According to Wang, the event aims to contribute in developing the members of the alliance.

The Chinese official also noted that the summit will be beneficial in promoting "more inclusive and balanced economic globalization," the article wrote. For China, BRICS Summit is further considered as a way to allow the group's "mechanism to play its role of rebalancing organization."

Meanwhile, Wang remarked that through BRICS, South Africa and China have the opportunity to foster their ties, obtaining "fruitful results" from "profound" mutual political trust.

Citing some major concerns and areas of symbiotic interests, Wang said that the "two countries understand and firmly support each other, incessantly deepening their strategic partnership."

The two BRICS nations are set to hold the first ever China-South Africa High-Level People-to-People Exchange Mechanism.

During the 2015 Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the partnering countries reached a number of agreements. Wang enthused that the government is ready to work hand in hand with South Africa to make the said plans happen.

Sharing the same sentiment, Nkoana-Mashabane acknowledged China as a strategic partner to South Africa. The BRICS members are also ready to further strengthen ties and deepen its political trust with the economic giant.

Moreover, the South African official noted that they also aim to fortify their partnership with China in terms of implementing different global as well as regional cooperation mechanism such as the BRICS.
