It appears that the "X-Men" movie franchise is ready to expand the mutant universe beyond the original core team that fans have been seeing since "X-Men" hit the screen in 2000. Following the success of "Deadpool," more mutants are taking over the spotlight in the next movies, among which reportedly include X-Force.

Ever since it has been confirmed that Cable will make his big screen debut in "Deadpool 2," rumors swirl that X-Force will soon be brought into the "X-Men" cinematic universe. Cable's appearance in "Deadpool 2" is expected to pave the way for X-Force's debut in "Deadpool 3."

Interestingly, "Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds told FILMSTARTS that he is excited to work on X-Force and that bring the mutant team to the movies is one of his main priorities. A still-unnamed X-Force project is reportedly being developed with "Kick-Ass" writer Jeff Wadlow helming the script.

X-Force is a team of mutants led by Cable. Unlike the X-Men, X-Force actually takes on a more aggressive approach towards taking it its enemies and executing its missions. According to Screen Rant, the purpose of the team is to be the darker, paralimitary mutant counterpart of the X-Men and acts as a sort of black ops unit in the entire Marvel universe.

At some point, the X-Force was regrouped into a sort of a team of hit men led by Wolverine, taking out threats to other X-Men teams. The group was later disbanded after the other X-Men found out about their actions and did not approve of them.

Although there have been changes to the members over time, Cable is the main mutant heavily connected with X-Force and Domino has also been a consistent member of the X-Force teams. X-23, who will make her movie debut in "Logan," has also been a X-Force member. More recent versions of X-Force include Psylocke, Storm, Angel and Deadpool.

The rumored "X-Force" movie will reportedly focus on the original team consisting of Cable, Domino, Cannonball, Warpath and another female mutant. The script being written by Wadlow is said to focus on the early beginnings of X-Force. Moreover, the movie will be R-rated, following the footsteps of "Deadpool" and "Logan."
