Chinese audience may not be as romantic as westerners which explains why a romantic musical film like “La La Land” earned only a fraction of what “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” earned. However, Chinese could be romantic in a practical way.

For instance, a man from Jilin Province ordered a bouquet from a flower shop in Changchun City. However, instead of ordering a dozen red roses for the start of the Year of the Rooster, he gave to the shop 10,000 yuan crisp bills.

Chinese Netizens React

Somehow, the unique “floral” bouquet was posted on social media which elicited comments from Chinese netizens, Shanghaiist reported. One netizen agreed with the man’s practical way of showing his love for his girlfriend than just giving regular flowers which eventually wilt and die.

But another netizen pointed out it takes effort to unwrap the bill one by one. He suggested that the man should have instead given his girlfriend one flower and the cash. In 2015, another man used a money bouquet worth 5,000 yuan to propose marriage to his girlfriend and she said “yes.” Another man used a meat bouquet.

In Malaysia, Audrey Young, a florist, said that for Valentine’s Day, she offered unique designs instead of only the usual floral bouquet such as a money bouquet and cooked chicken wings bouquet. She said that offering unique designs is their way of being competitive and progressive in their business, Daily Express reported. For those who still prefer traditional flowers for Valentine’s Day, Yong imports blooms from Holland, China and India.

In Manila, a restaurant offered a bouquet of rose-shaped bacon bouquet as part of the dining establishment’s Valentine’s Day promotion. The edible bouquet costs Php2,000 and could be delivered to one’s girlfriend, Businessmirror reported.
