During the autumn of 2017 and spring of 2018, Greek and Chinese exhibitions will showcase the best of what they have to offer in the areas of science and technology.
The two events will take place in the Museum Herakleidon in Athens and the China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) in Beijing, according to a report by China.org.
Official representatives from the two countries reveal in a press briefing that it is the first time such a collaboration is taking place. Athens will feature achievements of the Ancient Chinese civilization and Beijing will present the Greek technological and scientific feats.
Rare learning opportunity
Paul Fyros, founder of the Herakleidon Museum is amazed at the massive cooperation between his country and China.
“It is a unique opportunity for both our nations to learn each other’s achievements,” he says.
For Fryos, he sees this opportunity as a way to learn the cultural heritage of two civilizations through two public exhibitions.
Uniting two civilizations, the entire world
Both representatives from Greece and China are hopeful that the exhibition can be a starting point to further unite people of differing cultures.
Starting in September this year, the Museum Herakleidon will welcome two exhibitions of the CSTM “Ancient Chinese Science and Technology." The exhibit will run until Jan. 2018.
Visitors and science enthusiasts have the chance to see innovative inventions up close. The array of scientific displays range from astronomy, mechanical engineering, seismography, papermaking, printing, and even weaving techniques.
For China’s part, it will host the exhibition titled “Eureka. Science, Art and Technology of the Ancient Greeks” beginning Oct. 2017 to March 2018. The display will be held in Beijing, organized by the Museum Herakleidon, in collaboration with the Association for the Study of Ancient Greek Technology.
Visitors and spectators will be treated with magnificent representations of ancient Greek ships, metalcraft machinery, automation models, and various measuring instruments.
