The HMD Global is expected to reveal a slew of Nokia-branded Android smartphones in the Mobile World Congress on Barcelona. With just a day before the trade show, Nokia has confirmed news of its upcoming live-streaming event for the smartphones in 360 degree video on YouTube, and in 2D on Facebook. The company is also expected to showcase new connected health devices from Withings at the event.
According to NDTV, the official Facebook account of the Nokia Mobile has announced the schedule date for the live stream, which is on Sunday. The Facebook live stream teaser says, "We'll be announcing live on Facebook the details of our Nokia smartphones on Android - see it here first!"
For the MWC 2017 event, HMD Global is expected to offer the modernized Nokia 3310 feature phone launched 17 years ago, which boasts its big battery life and strong frame build. Other Nokia phones expected to debut on the Barcelona event include two budget Nokia devices, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5.
For the uninitiated, the the Nokia 3 will serve as the entry-level smartphone for the next-gen flagships. Under the "Nokia E1" moniker, the smartphone brings a 5.2 or 5.3-inch HD display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. It will be powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor, coupled with Adreno 308 GPU, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. On the camera front, the smartphone features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-snapper. It will also run the Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
The Nokia 5 is rumored to be named "Nokia Heart" and will feature a 5.2-inch HD display with a resolution of 720 X 1080 pixels. The smartphone is armed with 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 430 processor, which is paired with Qualcomm Adreno 505 graphic processor, 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. It features a 13-megapixel primary rear camera with LED flash, as well as an 8-megapixel front-snapper. It will ship the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
The Nokia 6, which is exclusively release in Chinese markets, may be announced in other territories along with its availability details at the same event. The Nokia 6 offers a 5.5-inch full HD display in 1080p resolution, with 2.5d curved display and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage (up to 128GB).
On another note, French consumer electronics company Withings has also reserved its showcase launch event at the MWC 2017. Some of the Withings products include activity trackers, weighing scales, thermometers, blood pressure monitors and baby monitors built on a digital platform.
The HMD Global event will be held in Barcelona on Feb. 26, 2017, Sunday, which will kick off at 4:30pm local time (9pm IST).
