Avid viewers of the Freeform series "Shadowhunters" Season 2 witnessed the recent development of Simon (Alberto Rosende) and Clary's (Katherine McNamara) relationship from purely platonic to romantic. However, Jace (Dominic Sherwood) will become more tense and insufferable especially when he sees the new couple together.
"Shadowhunters" Season 2 episode 8 featured the start of Simon and Clary's romance. Aired on Feb. 20, the said vampire finally confronted Clary and revealed that he has feelings for her.
The confession led to the two long-time friends becoming a couple although their new relationship made a few characters unhappy namely Maia (Alisha Wainwright) and Jace. Simon dated Maia but their romance failed to gain traction, while Jace and Clary had to end their relationship when the villainous Valentine (Alan Van Sprang) claimed that they were siblings.
In the upcoming "Shadowhunters" Season 2 episode 9 titled "Bound by Blood," Jace will have a difficult time dealing with Simon and Clary's relationship. A teaser clip posted on Spoilers Guide showed Valentine's alleged son looking for the new couple at Simon's place.
Forced to hide from Downwolders, as well as Valentine's men, Simon offered his place to serve as his new girlfriend's temporary abode. After Jace located them hiding in what appears to be a loft, the couple jumped down with a shirtless Simon nonchalantly running his hand down Clary's back.
Seeing the said action along with the duo's cozy loft moment will infuriate Jace and push him to adopt a rude behavior towards the couple. He then questions Simon's decision to hide Clary at the said location and will even challenge him to a fight to test the said vampire's skills.
Meanwhile, Clary's happy moments with Simon will soon come to an end given the realization that she could be the one who might unleash evil onto the world. McNamara told Entertainment Weekly that given her character's ability to activate the Soul Sword, the said protagonist will be devastated with the knowledge that her powers might be tinted with darkness.
Clary will also embark on a personal journey similar to Jace's battle with his inner darkness, according to the actress. McNamara stated, "It's fighting that darkness within. You saw Jace go through it at the beginning of the season and now Clary's starting down a similar path."
"Shadowhunters" Season 2 episode 9 will be released on Feb. 27, Monday, on Freeform. Watch a teaser clip below:
