Apart from the popular fan theory that Jon Snow is actually the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, another very popular "Game of Thrones" spoiler states that Cersei Lannister will meet her end at the hands of her lover-brother Jaime Lannister. However, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the actor who plays Jaime, does not seem to agree with this theory.
"It's a theory, but it has a beautiful, romantic, tragic thing [to it]," Coster-Waldau told Huffington Post. "It's probably too obvious."
The 46-year-old actor also added that at this point, he has no idea how her on-screen sister will meet her end. The theory of Jaime killing Cersei comes from the prophecy that the latter heard as a girl during which a witch woman foretold the death of all her children.
The crucial second part of the prophecy, that is skipped in the show, but is mentioned in George R.R. Martin's source novel, states that Cersei will die at the hands of the Valonqar, which means little brother in Valyrian. After Cersei blew up King's Landing killing Margaery and High Sparrow in last season finale episode, Jaime was seen giving her cold look that further seemed to push the theory that he will ultimately kill Cersei.
Despite the Coster-Waldau's denial of his character's involvement in Cersei's supposed death, some fans of the show believe that the actor's statement is nothing but a head-fake to throw the intrepid fans off the scent. It may be recalled how Jon Snow's resurrection was falsely denied by the show makers as well as the cast members before the commencement of last season.
Another possibility is that it is Tyrion Lannister who will ultimately slay Cersei. He is also her sibling and evidently does not seem to approve of her, especially since she tried to get him executed for Joffrey's murder.
Although Cersei only lately took the Iron Throne for herself after the suicide of her son King Tommen in "Game of Thrones" Season 6 finale episode, not even the actress playing the character, Lena Headey, thinks she will last long on the throne.
"No. Surely not! Not a chance in hell,"' Headey told Entertainment Weekly. "It's a moment of punctuation in the madness."
