Starring Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, "Descendants of the Sun" was not chosen as the best South Korean drama in an annual international survey. However, it was voted as the drama series with the best kissing scene.
At the 12th Annual Soompi Awards, "Descendants of the Sun" won the Best Kiss award. Voted by hallyu fans from 139 countries across the globe, the winners of the annual survey were announced on March 2, Thursday, by Soompi.
With Fuse and ZANYBROS as partners, the United States-based online news provider specializing in Korean pop culture received almost 100 million votes from Dec. 19, 2016 to Jan. 16. There were 29 categories in the survey.
In "Descendants of the Sun," Joong Ki played Captain Yoo Si Jin, also known as Big Boss. On the other hand, Hye Kyo played Doctor Kang Mo Yeon, also known as beauty.
Joong Ki and Hye Kyo had two fellow main cast members of "Descendants of the Sun." They were Jin Goo and Kim Ji Won, who played Sergeant First Class Seo Dae Young and First Lieutenant Yoon Myeong Ju, respectively.
After "Descendants of the Sun," Ji Won will star in the upcoming KBS2 drama series titled "Ssam My May" opposite Park Seo Joon. Kim will play Choi Ae Ra, a girl who wanted to become an announcer but ended up working at a shopping mall, while Park will play an MMA fighter named Go Dong Man, All Kpop has learned.
Meanwhile, details about "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 have yet to be confirmed. Joong Ki's fans can catch him on the upcoming film "Battleship Island" before the sequel of the hit drama series airs on the small screen.
"Battleship Island" is directed by Seung-wan Ryoo. The historical drama film also stars Lee Jung Hyun, So Ji Seon, Hwang Jung Min and Kim Soo An.
