Xbox head Phil Spencer is the leader of the global creative and engineering teams responsible for gaming at Microsoft. As one of those who had to chance to play Nintendo Switch way before it was released on March 3, Friday, he recently shared his review on the device.
On the latest episode of IGN's Xbox show "Unlocked," Spencer said he loved the hardware design of the Switch. For him, Nintendo has done a very innovative work with the video game console and anytime it brings a new product to the gaming market, it is "good for all of us."
According to Spencer, Microsoft and Nintendo are in a great relationship. Explaining why Microsoft has yet to release a portable Xbox, the Xbox boss noted that the company looked at phones as "dominating that market" in this generation when many people connect with friends and play games by logging into Xbox Live with their iOS and Android devices.
"I don't know that we would do a bespoke mobile device yet," Spencer said. "But I'm gonna watch. Absolutely, I'm gonna watch and learn. People want to play their games wherever they are."
Meanwhile, the Switch is more expensive than expected in the United Kingdom. Previously, rumors claimed that the device could cost £200 ($244.74) but the retail price in the U.K. turned out to be £279.99 ($342.62).
Retail giants in the U.K. including Amazon, Argos, GAME and Tesco will sell the Switch for £279 ($341.41). The standard bundle at this price features the full Nintento Switch starter kit complete with the two Joy-Con controllers, a console, a switch dock and cables, Mirror has learned.
Gamers can choose between two different Joy-Con colors, which are grey and neon red with blue. For those who are looking for "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," the game is sold at £48 ($58.74) on Amazon and £49.99 ($61.17) on HMV Online, Toys R Us and Very.
