After the winter break, "Gotham" Season 3 will return on April 24 with episode 15 titled "Mad City: How the Riddler Got His Name." One of the things viewers should expect in the upcoming episodes is the introduction of a new recurring character.

"Game of Thrones" alum Alexander Siddig has been cast to play supervillain Ra's Al Ghul, a character created by DC Comics editor Julius Schwartz, artist Neal Adams and writer Dennis O'Neil. The character will be introduced in the Fox series as the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) starts to discover the culprit behind the secret Court of Owls council, which seemingly manipulates everything in Gotham.

Before playing Ra's Al Ghul, Siddig played several TV roles. The most recent ones are Al-Rahim in "Da Vinci's Demons" from 2013 to 2015, Doran Martell in "Game of Thrones" from 2015 to 2016 and Ruben Oliver in "Peaky Blinders" in 2016.

Siddig is represented by Anonymous Content in the United States and Markham, Froggatt and Irwin in the United Kingdom, according to Deadline.

Before "Gotham" Season 3, Ra's Al Ghul appeared "Arrow" Season 3 on The CW. The character was played by Matt Nable.

The Ra's Al Ghul played by Siddig on "Gotham" has a long and complicated history with Bruce Wayne and his Batman alter ego. As the leader of the League of Shadows, the supervillain masterminded several plots and organizations that joined forces to gain power.

Currently, Bruce is trying to take down the organization called the Court of Owls. This is when he will meet Ra's Al Ghul, Los Angeles Times has learned.

Including Ra's Al Ghul, "Gotham" Season 3 has several recurring villains. The others are Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Camren Bicondova ), Edward Nygma/The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith ) and Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor).

"Mad City: How the Riddler Got His Name" is directed by T.J. Scott. It will also feature Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Morena Baccarin, Erin Richards, Jessica Lucas, Chris Chalk, Drew Powell, Maggie Geha and Alena Chinault, among others.
