Google's Android One initiative is putting more Android phones in emerging markets, which promise low-priced stock components. In the recent MWC 2017 event, the smartphone manufacturer General Mobile unveiled its latest Android One smartphone dubbed as GM6.

The new Android One smartphone by General Mobile features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display, resulting to pixel density of 294ppi, NDTV reported. It also sports a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

Under the hood, the GM 6 smartphone is armed with a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737T SoC and a 3GB of RAM. Its native storage offers a 32GB of memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

In its optics department, the GM 6 features a 13-megapixel primary rear autofocus camera with dual-LED flash. Up front, the handset comes with an 8-megapixel front snapper with flash. On the software front, the Android One phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat.

The GM 6's key selling point is its fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button, Phone Arena reported. According to reports, the security suite can detect fingerprints within 0.2 seconds. It also houses a 3000mAh battery and comes pre-installed with apps like Allo and Duo.

For its connectivity options, the General Mobile GM 6 offers 4G LTE + 4.5G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Micro-USB port. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor.

The General Mobile GM 6 measures 144x71.3x8.6mm, and weighs 150 grams. In its release, the GM 6 will be available in three color variants, namely Gold, Rose Gold, and Space Grey color options.

General Mobile is yet to release further details on the device's pricing and availability. However, customers could expect the Android One smartphone to expand on markets outside Turkey as the company currently operates in nearly 20 markets including Azerbaijan, Albania, Afghanistan, Belgium, Bosnia, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Ghana, Greece, Iraq, Kenya, Luxembourg, Moldova, Netherlands, Pakistan, Serbia, Tunisia, and Uzbekistan.

To recall, General Mobile was the first to release a mid-range Android One smartphone in 2016, which is called GM 5 Plus. The announcement also took place in the MWC event last year.
