The mainstream media of China reported the country's "two sessions" to the public through live-streaming technology in order to deliver first-hand information about the important political event in a timely manner.

China's Two Sessions kicked off over the weekend in Beijing. These are the annual sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPCC).

The new media center of the People's Daily, the biggest newspaper group in China, recently launched a live-streaming platform so that it can offer the latest meeting agenda to audiences nationwide. Other news agencies CCTV and Xinhua also unveiled similar programs.

This innovative attempt by the media came after live streaming boomed in 2016. Live-streamed content either provided entertainment, speculation, fraud, chaos or disturbing scenes, which has cast a shadow over the industry.

Amid such a backdrop, the media launching their own live-streaming platforms will be a turning point, as they will be providing more weight in the media ecosystem, thus making live-streaming a cleaner industry environment.

Shouldering more social responsibilities, the media will report more on hard news and objective information on these platforms.

The People's Daily Online teamed up with Tencent's video site to introduce a 100-hour-plus live program to broadcast the meetings in real time. Since it was launched, the program provided updated reports from on-site journalists every day.

Besides this, high-end talks, authoritative comments on the agendas and tidbits were aired on the program.

To deliver quality content, reporters are using a multichannel live broadcast cloud platform called the "Iron Man." It is a 15-kilogram wearable broadcasting monster that is built by Guangming Online, which enables a single reporter to collect and publish information via video, panorama and virtual reality.
