It looks like all is set to go well for Shanghai Shenhua's new £1-per minute striker Carlos Tevez at the Chinese Super League, with the Argentinian wasting no time to make his debut memorable for the Shanghainese club's faithful in a 4-0 routing of last season's runner-up Jiangsu Suning.

Tevez marked a dream start to life at Shanghai Shenhua by netting once and assisting twice against Jiangsu Suning, which also spent huge swathes of cash to acquire world-class talent from Europe. The Argentine forward scored from the penalty box in the 35th minute, The Mirror reported.

Proving a worthy addition to a squad seeking to rebuild their glory in the Chinese Super League, Tevez was also involved in two of Shanghai Shenhua's header goals. He smashed in a free kick to connect with Giovanni Moreno, with the same combo enjoying a repeat four minutes before the game ended.

Having become the world's largest-paid football player when he transferred to China from Boca Juniors in Argentina, Tevez is under great pressure to justify his value to Shanghai Shenhua fans, with many of them looking forward to the club's rebuilding of title and AFC Champions League fortunes.

Shanghai Shenhua manager Gus Poyet expressed his delight over his side's successful thrashing of Suning, singling out Tevez for his brilliant contributions during the match. Meanwhile, Jiangsu Suning is currently sweating on Alex Teixeira, whose sending off during the match may mean future absences.

Shanghai Shenhua's next league game against Tianjin Quanjian expects to feature Tevez again in his signature best, with the Argentine's qualities on finding the back of the net making the side a dark horse in the current Chinese Super League season.

Other ex-Premier League figures have featured in this season's Chinese Super League opening, with ex-Tottenham Hotspur player Paulinho having hustled out in his first scoring moment in Guangzhou Evergrande, managed by ex-Chelsea and Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari.
