Contrary to popular belief and expectation, Apple may not have a total revolutionary smartphone design with its upcoming iPhone 8.

According to Forbes, popular research firm TrendForce revealed that Apple will not implement the curved display design for the upcoming high-end iPhone 8 because there are issues with the 3D glass, in terms of production yield and drop test results. This is considered as a drawback since curved/edge design has great impact when it comes to marketing.

Another discarded feature in iPhone 8 is the use of long range wireless charging. According to reports, Cowen and Company confirmed that Apple will have a conventional contact-based Qi or Airfuel wireless charging standards. It is noteworthy that this feature was already previously used by Samsung. The previous rumors that there could be wireless charging add-ons on iPhone 8 since Apple have gone through FCC testing in recent months was a false alarm because that was for the new model of Apple TV.

Nevertheless, iPhone 8 remains as one of the trending and most awaited smartphone models this year, as it still has great features to boast. In summary, the storage of the phone is confirmed to be larger than its predecessor with its 3GB RAM, advance AI software and an all-glass design discarding the aluminum back cover of previous iPhone models. According to Value Walk, Morgan Stanley note that iPhone will be equipped not only with bigger batteries, but with longer battery life as well.

Morgan Stanley further noted that it may also have a revolutionary selfie camera with infrared sensors that can produce 3D images. Previously, KGI Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo believed that this is best for facial and iris recognition. However, many still believe that 3D feature is a farfetched idea for the upcoming iPhone 8, and if any, it may only be possible in the next smartphone flagship of the company but definitely not in 2017.
