China's hottest grandpa is the newest Reebok brand ambassador. He is Wang Deshun and he is 80 years old.
Wang is a model and actor who has only started his intense workout regimen 10 years ago. He made waves during the Beijing Fashion Week in 2015 and has claimed to be the hottest senior citizen in China ever since.
He now is the poster boy for the Reebok tagline "Be more human." The leading athletic shoe manufacturer said that Wang's ad is a "call to inspire people from all walks of life to strive to achieve their full potential through fitness."
In the campaign video, Wang appears with younger actors Yuan Shanshan and Wu Lei to appeal to younger audiences.
Wang said in the ad, "Everyone has low points in their life, but you have to keep pushing forward. When you emerge from your darkest moments, your life becomes hopeful again.
"For me, training provides meaning to my life. I will never stop searching to become more human. It's my ultimate goal in life."
Reebok is owned by Adidas and has opened seven FitHub stores across China. Reebok and its retail partner, Belle International Holdings, plans to open 50 more branches this year.
Wang Deshun was often asked about the secret of his longevity. He said that hard work would continuously keep him alive and with new purpose.
He said, "As long as you dare to do things you have never done before, your heart is still young."
Wang added that people should never think that it is too late to start on something. He noted, "That might just be your excuse for giving up."
He walked on the Milan runway before his endorsement deal with Reebok. He claimed that he has not signed any future endorsement deals with Reebok.
