Warner Bros. is planning to reboot "The Matrix," which might be a bad move. It brought out a mixture of emotions for Matrix fans as only Michael B. Jordan's ("Creed") name is attached to the reboot of the sci-fi franchise.

According to Independent, there is no official word yet about the upcoming "The Matrix" reboot, as it is still considered fake news for some. Zak Penn stated in an interview that although it is not thoroughly sure yet, people would love to see more stories of "The Matrix" universe, just as what they have done to the X-Men universe with "Logan," "Legion" and "Deadpool."

Moreover, ScreenRant reported that the audiences have flocked to new extension of movies such as "Star Wars" and "Kong: Skull Island," wherein these movies made a big opening on their weekend showings. Hollywood franchises have been rebooted and audience with great generations of cash and views praised it.

"The Matrix," however, may be a bad movie to reboot as it left a sour taste on the audience's mouth with the sequel "The Matrix" Reloaded, earning $742-million globally which did not go as expected. The special effects were cartoonish, new characters were introduced with promising backstories that were never thoroughly explained, and that Neo's war with the machines made it more confusing.

The third and last "Matrix: Revolution" came out and generated $427.3- million globally, which is less than the profit of the previous installment. It did not create a big impact to the audience, which led to the dissipation of the popular movie franchise in 2003.

15 years later, it is concluded that the Wachowskis' "The Matrix" Trilogy struggled to capture its previous glory. Keanu Reeves stated that he wants to be back in the rebooted Matrix if only the Wachowskis are still one of the producers. This could be a setback, as Warner Bros. seems to be opting to move forward without them.

"The Matrix" is a 1999 science fiction film written and directed by The Wachowskis. Its story started in the dystopian future where humans are in a simulated reality called "The Matrix." The sentient machines created this to subdue the human population, while their bodies are created to make heat and electrical activity as energy source. Neo (Reeves) knows this and draws a rebellion against these machines.
