For one apartment dweller infuriated by a noisy neighbor problem, it became, metaphorically speaking, an ear for an ear.
A man only known by his surname Zhao from Xi’an bought a device loosely referred to as a “building shaker” to get back on his hardnosed noisy neighbor upstairs, according to Shanghaiist.
They live in an apartment building in Shaanxi’s capital.
Zhao went to the fifth floor where the homeowners live to discuss the situation.
Their little kid was the one creating the noise by frequently jumping around.
Their conversation never resulted to anything positive. The noise continued.
Eventually, a thought on how to resolve the noisy neighbor problem struck him.
He purchased online the so-called building shaker. It thumps on a flat surface such as walls, floors, and ceilings and, as an effect, causes noise.
Come Friday night at 8 p.m., he put the device into use.
Determined to get even, Zhao left his unit and spent the rest of the night and the entire weekend in another place, with the building shaker remained switched on.
It was his payback time.
The homeowners informed the property management administrator about the sudden continuous noise coming from their normally quiet neighbor downstairs.
When the admin could not offer any solution, they sought the help of the police to locate his whereabouts.
Zhao succeeded turning the tables on them.
When he chose to go back to his unit, it was already Sunday afternoon.
Officers ordered him to turn the device off.
According to a Sina report, the kid’s parents and Zhao faced each other again and talked. They assured him that they will monitor the activities of their child.
He, on the other hand, said that he would not use the device again.
Zhao shelled out 400 yuan for that building shaker.
Apparently, the amount meant nothing to him.
Perhaps for him, revenge is sweet when one can hear it.
