Socials norms and good old values dictate that it is considered rude for a student to answer back a teacher.
A teacher, in contrast, should never hit a student.
But when temper flares during a teacher-vs-student scenario, sometimes emotions get unchecked and the unthinkable happens.
In one undisclosed school somewhere in China, what could be just another teacher-student conflict turned out more than that when the teacher and her female student involved slapped each other, reported Shanghaiist.
Someone, presumably a student, recorded the confrontation and posted it online. It became the latest China viral video concerning the academe.
According to the report, the unruly attitude of a student seated at the back of the classroom earned the ire of the teacher.
Irked, the teacher approached the student and rebuked her for her improper conduct.
A heated argument ensued between the two unnamed major characters of this story as the student reasoned out in a disrespectful manner.
Most likely not expecting an impolite reaction, the teacher cautioned her student that she would get hit if she would display again the same kind of discourtesy.
Apparently unmoved, the student stood up and dared the teacher to do exactly just that. She even pointed to her left cheek to provoke her teacher.
Ultimately, the student called her “qipa.” It basically translates to “special” in English but carries an offensive meaning as used during the confrontation.
Hearing that word probably snapped the teacher’s last thread of patience. Her right hand swiftly landed on the student’s left cheek.
The seemingly remorseless student was also quick to slap her back.
The teacher attempted to slap her one more time--she succeeded--and started to physically attack her.
Alarmed voices from other students floated as they witness a violent teacher vs. student moment.
Two other students initially approached them to intervene.
The fight lasted for some 20 seconds and the video ended after 1 minute and 2 seconds, with now six students still trying to separate them.
As of publication, this China viral video has so far received more than 2.2 million views.
It could be interesting to note that though it was a coeducational class--the camera caught two male students, with one remaining on his seat watching--only female students decided to break up the fight.
