Jaroslav Jartim, 24, is the only fighter from Czech Republic to participate in "ONE Championship: Kings of Destiny" at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines, on April 21, Friday. He and Filipino fighter Honorio Banario, 27, will battle it out in the lightweight division.
"I hope it will be (a) nice bout and fans will love it," Jartim told me in a recent interview. "I'm feeling very comfortable in all areas of this sport."
Jartim is from Penta Gym Prague Team while Banario is from Team Lakay. Referring to Banario, the Czech fighter said, "I think he has no chance to surprise me."
"ONE Championship: Kings of Destiny" is Jartim's 15th MMA bout. He has a record of eight wins, five losses and one draw.
On Sept. 16, 2011, Jartim made his MMA debut at "Gladiator Championship Fighter." However, Petr Dostalek defeated him via knockout.
On Feb. 10, 2012, Jartim returned to "Gladiator Championship Fighting" and fought Jakub Šneberger. Again, Jartim lost via knockout.
For the third time, Jartim fought at "Gladiator Championship Fighting" on Feb. 14, 2014. He had his first MMA win then having defeated Petr Vacek via armlock submission.
Aside from Vacek, Jarlim defeated two more fighters in 2014. He defeated Nico Villafane via shoulder submission and Patryk Rozkosz via a unanimous decision.
The other three fighters Jarlim lost to are Ján Široký , Ádám Borics and Gökhan Asku . The other five fighters Jarlim defeated are Thai Rithy, Morteza Minbashi, Jan Hájek , Patrik Danihel and Marek Koželuh.
On Jan. 1, 2016, Jarlim and Junpeng Xie fought in the bantamweight division at "Art of War 16: Return of the King" in Beijing, China. The bout ended in a draw.
On the other hand, Banario has fought 17 MMA bouts since 2010. He won 11 out of all the fights beating Rommel Del-is, Bernard Soriano, Seyed Razi Jabbari, Angelito Manguray, Alcer Lozada, Patrick Manicad, Andrew Benibe, Eric Kelly, Vaughn Donayre, Eddie Ng and Rajinder Singh Meena.
Banario lost to Bae Yong Kwon, Koji Oishi, Narantungalag Jadambaa, Herbert Burns and Ev Ting. Seven months after Banario and Oishi's first fight, they had a rematch, which was once again won by the latter.
