Team Lakay's Andrea Cola of Italy and Gridlock MMA's Leo Alejandro of Baguio City will headline the MMA event "Team Lakay Championship XIII: The Kapangan MMA Invasion 2" at the Kapangan Municipal Gymnasium in Lomon, Kapangan, Benguet, on May 1, Monday. They will battle it out in the 70 kg division.
Cola has been training with Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, for two years. On the other hand, Alejandro has been training under the tutelage of former UFC fighter Dave "Scarecrow" Galera.
Co-headlining "Team Lakay Championship XIII: The Kapangan MMA Invasion 2" with Cola and Alejandro are Jhanlo Mark Sangiao of Kapangan, Benguet, and Felix Dave Cantores of Sablan, Benguet. Sangiao is Cola's fellow Team Lakay member while Cantores is from Team Kafagway MMA.
Sangiao and Cantores will compete in the 56 kg division. The former is the son of Team Lakay founder Mark Sangiao.
There are three other matches in the 56 kg division. These are Taro Barrientos vs Jared Almazan, Jhayson Cosme vs Noel Gulod and Rafael Lim vs Arniel Lumayno.
Barrientos and Lim are from San Fernando, La Union, while Almazan and Cosme are from Baguio City. Gulod is from Tuba, Benguet, and Lumayno is from Bataan.
In the 58 kg division, Team Lakay's Vincent Velaque will compete with Wushu Federation Philippines' Kevin Kurt C. Satter. On Feb. 25, Velaque defeated Gulod via knockout at "Team Lakay Championship XII."
Two pairs of fighters are set to compete in the 52 kg division. These are Estrada Donga-as of Kalinga vs. Christopher Miguel of Tuba, Benguet, and Jae Hyuk Joo of South Korea vs Salvador Tangakan of Bauko, Mountain Province.
Jahn Serbo of San Fernando, La Union, will compete in the 50 kg division against Daryl Chulipas of Baguio City. Islay Erika Bomogao of Kapangan, Benguet, will compete against Olga Omaoeng of Baguio City in the 48 kg.
Aside from the older Sangiao, several MMA stars will be attending "Team Lakay Championship XIII: The Kapangan MMA Invasion 2." Among them are undefeated fighter Danny "The King" Kingad and ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang.
