As previously reported, Disney has plans to release 12 "Star Wars" movies until 2020, starting with "The Last Jedi" this year. With 12 movies coming up, there certainly is room for the studio to whip up another anthology film along the lines of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and the upcoming Han Solo movie. Here are five characters whose story might make for an interesting spin-off.

Qui-Gon Jinn

Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon is probably one of the most memorable and likeable characters in the "Star Wars" franchise the bid goodbye too soon. It's possible his solo movie could focus on his life prior to "The Phantom Menace" or after, especially his travels to the Wellspring of Life, which is thought of as the birthplace of the Force, Screen Rant reported.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

There have been rumors an Obi-Wan Kenobi solo movie has been tabled for discussion, and actor Ewan McGregor is most certainly open to reprising his role. McGregor played the character in the three "Star Wars" prequels.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, McGregor revealed that there has been no official role and that he hasn't discussed anything with the studio.

"Star Wars: The Last of the Jedi" novel could particularly work as Obi-Wan's anthology film. The story follows the character from planet to planet as he searches for a Jedi Apprentice named Ferus Olin.

Darth Maul

Darth Maul's presence in the "Star Wars" movie universe was short-lived, but he has a bigger presence in the books. Since not much of Darth Maul's origins were revealed in the movies, it would be interesting to have an anthology movie charting the younger days of the Sith Lord.

The Darth Maul solo movie could also focus on the events after "The Phantom Menace" since in the books he survived the fall in Naboo and had his bottom half replaced with six robotic legs.

Wilhuff Tarkin

Grand Moff Tarkin is one of the most powerful figures in the franchise, but he's also one of the most mysterious. So little is known about his background and how his friendship with Darth Vader started. Also, how does one become a Grand Moff? This question is answerable by nothing else but a Tarkin solo movie.

Jabba the Hutt

The Outer Rim of "Star Wars" remains vastly unexplored, and its high-time the characters out there get their own anthology movie treatment. A particularly popular fellow from the Outer Rim that deserves more attention is Jabba the Hutt. He is the de facto leader of the Desilijic-Hutt Cartel and is one who is not afraid to stand up against baddies such as Palpatine, Kylo Ren and Darth Vader. Fans have seen so little of Jabba the Hutt on screen, and it would be interesting to his backstory and his rise to the top.
