The Communist Party of China has revealed a humiliating fact that some of its officials were actually providing funds to the Dalai Lama. Chinese authorities regard the exiled Tibetan leader as “a dangerous separatist.”

The disclosure was given by a discipline watchdog suggesting that the Communist Party is on the move in clearing out secret supporters of the Dalai Lama among the Party members.

According to observers, the Party would not be considerate to anyone who challenges its stand on a sensitive issue such as the Dalai Lama.

Wang Yongjun, head of the Party’s discipline watchdog in the Tibet Autonomous Region, made the disclosure. He wrote an article published by a magazine operated by the Central Discipline Organization of the Communist Party and the Ministry of Supervision in the government which talks about this serious violation of discipline.

Some Party officials went further than donating funds by enlisting to illegal underground organizations and by giving intelligence to organizations abroad that have been involved in giving intelligence to the Tibetan leader and backing subversive activities, Wang said.

According to him, some Party officials have failed to “uphold their political integrity,” adding that “they are completely ignoring political discipline.”

Wang also warned that such action has a negative impact on the unity within the Party and to the Party’s ability to combat separatism.

The Dalai Lama is deemed by China as a political exile who is trying to tear the country apart with religion as his disguise.

The Party has actually been aware of such indiscipline for quite a while but chose not to reveal details for fear of humiliation.

In 2016, Tibet’s discipline organization released a report that said of 15 Party officials who were suspected to have connections with illegal overseas separatist organizations since 2014, the China News Service said.

As the Communist Party pushes its campaign for Party loyalty, the crackdown on separatist activities, including the donation of funds to the Dalai Lama, is expected to continue.
