"Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" plot

The movie, which is written and directed by Luc Besson, is based on the popular "Valerian and Laureline" graphic novel from France. The movie follows its lead characters, Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) who are tasked to investigate and protect the metropolis of Alpha.

According to Gizmodo, Alpha is the setting of the movie and is called the "city of thousand planets." Alpha is home to different alien races as well as representatives of human. Each species that comes to Alpha builds an environment of their own as they attach to the station.

Aside from their mission, the movie also focuses on Valerian and Laureline's romance, with Valerian chasing after her and attempting to develop a romantic relationship. However, Laureline is aware of Valerian's long history with women, which cause him to constantly rebuff him, Movie Web reported.
