Did Mark Hamill know the events of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" way back in the 1980s? Maybe, maybe not; however, an old interview revealed that Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars," already had an idea of what the future of the franchise would look like and the role he would play in it.
In the interview, Hamill said that the original "Star Wars" director George Lucas may or may not have told him that he will possibly play a father in the future movies. "George has talked to me very marginally about doing something at the turn of the century in the last trilogy, but it wouldn't be on the same plane of existence," Hamill said in the interview, as quoted by Digital Spy.
When asked if that "something" pertains to a role playing a father figure, Hamill simply shook his head to agree. This revelation fits perfectly well with the much-discussed theory about Rey's parentage. The most popular theory is that Luke is Rey's father, which explains how she can use the Force like a Jedi.
During April's "Star Wars" celebration panel, actress Daisy Ridley teased that "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will go deeper into Rey's story. She also hinted that Rey will discover that Luke is far from what she expected. "It's difficult to meet your heroes as they might not be what you expect," Ridley said, as quoted by Digital Spy.
So is Luke really Rey's father? While it's hard to give a conclusive answer for now, there are certainly several theories that prove Luke may be Rey's dad. However, there's another theory that rebuff's Rey being a Skywalker, and that is Rey may in fact be a Kenobi.
In "The Force Awakens," Rey experiences a "Force vision" when she holds Anakin and Luke's old lightsaber. She then hears the words "Rey, these are your first steps." It is said that they're spoken by a mix of Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor's voices.
The most recent evidence that links to this theory is Rey's costume for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." Rey got an upgrade from his outfit in "The Force Awakens," and his new one appear to be similar to Obi Wan's outfit in the "Star Wars" prequels.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will hit theaters on Dec. 13.
