Fifty Shades Darker

"Fifty Shades of Grey" didn't receive critical acclaim, but nevertheless generated huge buzz because of the film's sexy material and hot lead actors. The sequel, "Fifty Shades Darker," did not live up to the hype that preceded it. A lead song sung by Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik wasn't enough to salvage the film, which only got a 9 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Rings

"The Ring" succeeded in delivering the right amount of horror and suspense when it was released in 2002, garnering a 71 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. "Rings," however, is not the sequel "The Ring" fans were asking for. "Rings" was a tiring loop of rehashed plot points and flat characters. The sequel got a 6 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Circle

The sci-fi thriller "The Circle" is proof that star power does not necessarily generate positive returns. The Emma Watson and Tom Hanks starrer failed to generate traction with viewers and critics, and has a 16 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Underworld: Blood Wars

"Underworld: Blood Wars" has shown signs that the "Underworld" movie franchise has begun to age. Although the fifth "Underworld" movie was able to deliver the signature stylized violence the series is known for, it failed to give viewers something new to enjoy.

Fist Fight

For a comedy, Ice Cube and Charlie Day's movie did not have enough comedic punches to tickle fans and generate positive reviews. The movie scored a 27 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Chips

"Chips" is one of those films that failed to live up to its source material. The comedy, which stars Dax Shepard and Michael Pena wasn't able to get the laughs it needed to be a successful comedy film.

Assassin's Creed

Expectations ran high for Michael Fassbender's "Assassin's Creed," which is based on the hit game franchise. "Assassin's Creed" was one of the year's highly anticipated live-action adaption, but miserably failed to get viewers' approval, especially fans of the game.
