Although "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" isn't out in theaters yet, "Kingsman 3" is already in active development.
In a press event in London hosted by 20th Century Fox, "Kingsman" director and co-writer Matthew Vaughn screened the first act of "The Golden Circle" for the audience. He then teased that the climax of the sophomore film will expand the future of the franchise.
"No one will predict where Eggsy winds up [at the end of The Golden Circle]," Vaughn teased, as reported by ScreenRant. Unpredictability seems to be a prominent theme in the franchise. For one, Colin Firth's Harry Hart appeared to have died after getting shot by Samuel L. Jackson's Richmond Valentine in "Kingsman: The Secret Service" only to be brought back in the sequel.
Moreover, Vaughn revealed how his co-writer, Jane Goldman, had been generating ideas for "Kingsman 3" while working on "Kingsman: The Golden Circle." This gives the "Kingsman" franchise a more detailed blueprint now.
"We've got a big idea for that. This is sort of the bridge and if we can pull this off, we'll make another one," Vaughn said about their plans for the third film.
Meanwhile, Taron Egerton will return as Eggsy Unwin in "Kingsman: The Golden Circle." This time he will journey to the US to join forces with their American counterpart, the Statesmen. Mark Strong will also reprise his role as Merlin.
The official "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" trailer was chock-full of action sequences, explosive scenes and A-list stars in action. Aside from the core "Kingsman" team of Egerton, Firth and Strong, joining the spy flick are Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, Halle Berry, Julianne More and Jeff Bridges.
Attendees of the screening of the "Kingsman 2" footage in London gave overwhelmingly positive reviews for the film. Reporters described the preview as "awesome" and "insane," and praised Moore performance the villain Poppy as "delightfully vicious."
As for its lead star, Egerton, he compared the "Kingsman" films to two very explosive Marvel movies. "If the first 'Kingsman' was 'Captain America,'" Egerton told EW, 'Then ['The Golden Circle'] is very much 'The Avengers' now."
