Samsung's Galaxy A3 (2017) model might finally receive its OS upgrade to Android Nougat soon after the smartphone has been spotted on a benchmarking website. Although no specific date has been filed yet, the latest citing indicates that the company is testing the Nougat firmware.

The said smartphone was officially announced earlier this year on January under the Galaxy A series. Upon release, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) model came running the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware, although its other siblings got the Nougat upgrade out-of-the-box. Now the said device could be upgrading on its Nougat firmware after it was spotted on benchmarking website, GFXBench, Phone Arena reported.

Carrying the model number SM-A320x, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) smartphone is expected to receive the major upgrade, in spite no further details regarding the timeframe of the Nougat upgrade.

Specs-wise, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) features a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display, resulting to 720 X 1280 pixel resolution, The Mobile Indian reported. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos processor alongside a 2GB of RAM. It packs a 16GB of internal storage which can be further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. As of now, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system.

In its optics department, the Galaxy A3 (2017) unit sports a 13-megapixel primary rear camera. Up front, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera sits that is perfect for selfies and video conferencing. The device packs a non-removable Li-Polymer battery of 2,350mAh, which is integrated with fast charging technology.

On its connectivity options, the Galaxy A3 (2017) handset offers 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, ANT+, USB Type-C, dual-SIM and NFC. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Barometer. The smartphone also includes the latest security suite of a fingerprint sensor. It will also feature a USB Type-C port. The handset measures 135.4 x 66.2 x 7.9 mm and weighs 138 grams.

The Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) is clearly on the list of upcoming devices that should get the Android 7.0 Nougat firmware. However, the update should take some more time before users could receive the upgrade.
