HTC U marked May 16 as the official release date of its next smartphone flagship - HTC U 11.

Rumors suggest that the delay in the release of the latest HTC smartphone flagship was caused by the scarcity of stock of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835, which is commonly used by smartphone manufacturers. Nevertheless, days before the official release of the Taiwanese giant's smartphone product, leaks have already been posted, and the most recent one revealed much more than tech savvies are looking for.

In the latest 360-degree rendered video based on factory CAD sketches which were claimed to be from a reliable source, HTC U 11 is featured with a glossy red external cover. As per the video and other reports, it is equipped with edge sensors otherwise called Edge Sense. Accordingly, this is the defining feature of HTC U 11, as the same is not yet available in any other smartphones in the market. For those uninitiated, this feature allows users to navigate the device by squeezing or swiping along its edges.

As per reports, its specifications involve a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, and like many other smartphones out there, it will be powered by Qualcomm's SD 835 chipset. Along with it is a 4GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 2TB. As for the camera department, it was previously said to have 12- megapixel rear camera and 16MP front shooter with fingerprint compatibility feature but without 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The audio jack is said to be replaced by an adaptor and other accessories. Also, the left edge of the HTC U 11 has no button or tray, though it will be touch sensitive to be able to use HTC's squeezable gestures. It is also rumored that the device will come in two variants with differences only in RAM and storage.
