"Vikings" Season 5 is going to completely change the course of the show, now that its main hero Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) is dead. In the upcoming season, actress Katheryn Winnick teases the rises of a new king who will be integral to the story of brothers Bjorn, Ubbe, Hvitsek and Ivar.

In recall, "Vikings" Season 4B saw the death of Ragnar Lothbrok. Under King Aelle's command, Ragnar was thrown into a pit of snakes where he died a slow and painful death. Although Ragnar's sons were able to avenge him by executing King Aelle, Ragnar's rain has come to pass and now it's time to usher in a new king.

Ragnar's sons will be hit hard by his death, but it will motivate them and give them a "new purpose in life," creator Michael Hirst tells Variety. Hirst, however, says that Ragnar is still very much a part of the story in some way or form.

"Ragnar never goes away. We've shot nearly 25 episodes after the death of Ragnar, and we're following the sons still. But Ragnar never goes away, because his presence is still there, as long as Lagertha and Floki and Bjorn are alive," Hirst explains. He adds that Ragnar lives on through his ambitions for his people, and his sons will pick up on his legacy.

While the question as to who will succeed Ragnar is still up for discussion, Katheryn Winnick recently revealed that a new key player will emerge in "Vikings" Season 5 and it looks like one of his brothers will portray the role.

According to Den of Geek, Winnick shared a photo of her and her brothers on Instagram. The siblings are all on the set of "Vikings" Season 5, where they filmed a scene together. Interestingly, the actress also used King Angantyr as a hashtag.

The character may be based on Angantyr Heidreksson, which in history is known as the first Swedish ruler of the House of Munsö. King Angantyr will likely go head to head with Aethelwulf of Wessex and Harald Finehair as the first King of Norway.

"Viking" Season 5 is expected to premiere on History this fall.
