During an international conference call arranged by ONE Championship on April 26, Nunes talked about her fight against Mei Yamaguchi on Aug. 13, 2016. The former defeated the latter via unanimous decision.

"I didn't expect the event to be so big, so huge," Nunes said via a translator. "I've been having butterflies in my stomach. I still can't forget the day I entered the Championship for the first time and I saw it was filled with people looking at me. It's an unforgettable moment."

According to Nunes, it has been a surprise for Yamaguchi to fight a fighter like her. The Brazilian fighter added, "It was something out of order for her so and it's still a moment she can't forget and she's been very honored to fight such a tough opponent."

"At the same time, I knew that if I had the victory, I would be able to be the challenger and that's all I wanted from the very first time," Nunes said. "And I believe this is the right time. I am the challenger right now."

"I'm in my best shape and I'm looking forward to the fight," Nunes added. "I've been training hard so let's see how this is gonna go."

Co-headlining "ONE Championship: Dynasty of Heroes" are ONE Welterweight World Champion Ben "Funky" Askren and Agilan "Alligator" Thani, who are also both undefeated fighters. Shinya Aoki and Garry "The Lion Killer" Tonon will compete in a grappling match.
