The movie adaptation of the comic book "Kingsman" directed by Matthew Vaughn raked $24.25 million in three days since its opening weekend. The movie's box-office success was partly attributed to the presence of major Hollywood actor Colin Firth, who plays the movie's main character.

The movie is an adaptation of a popular spy comic book by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons published in 2012 about a spy trying to recruit his nephew into the secret service.

The film boasts of a powerhouse cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong, Michael Caine, Mark Hamill and Sofia Boutella.

Data from research outfit Entgroup states that the film had 116,819 screenings and 4.55 million admissions during its opening three days.

Despite censorship brought about by the film's violent and sexual content, Chinese moviegoers flocked the theaters when the film was screened. Hollywood actor Colin Firth visited China to promote "Kingsman," an act seen to be trending among Hollywood celebrities when trying to woo Chinese audiences.

Next in sales was Peng Sanyuan's "Lost and Love," which stars Andy Lau. Peng's film raked $31.7 million after 10 days of screening in 209,485 theaters and was watched by 2.72 million Chinese moviegoers.

Third comes Liam Neeson's "Taken 3," which raked in an additional $12.73 million in the first week of opening, bringing the gross sales to $29.83 million.

Disney's "Cinderella" took the fourth place, adding another $12.33 million to its gross of $65.92 million. The film got 159,693 screenings and 2.51 million admissions.

The fifth place goes to Disney's other movie entitled "Big Hero 6," which raked $83.53 million after 30 days of screening in Chinese theaters.
