Former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley slammed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over her comments regarding changing policies in the United States.
O'Malley spoke to the media at the Harvard University and although Clinton's comments on the issues at hand such as marriage are positive, the presidential bid for the elections in 2016 should not change policies based on polls or what the public demands of her, Huffington Post reported.
On April 16, Thursday, the Clinton campaign team told the publication that the presidential candidate will support a law that will provide driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. Clinton mentioned during her 2008 campaign that she opposes such legislation and it caused her the position.
According to O'Malley, who is also a potential presidential candidate for the Democrats, Clinton's changing policies on issues such as gay marriage and illegal immigration should be because of her real stand and her conviction.
The former governor is known for supporting same-sex marriage, gun control, and revoking death penalties. He shared that marriage is a human right and is not a state right although same sex-marriage is not implemented all over the U.S.
The possible presidential candidate added that new American immigrants having difficulties on obtaining driver's licenses and are having trouble with the rules of the U.S. just makes a bigger damage to the country.
Earlier this week, Clinton made headlines as she was unclear of whether or not she supported gay marriage regarding her comments to Washington Blade. She told the publication that she is urging the Supreme Court to rule a constitutional right to allow gay marriage as she stood for marriage equality. However, the former secretary of state shared last year that she did not support the court rulings on same-sex marriage.
Meanwhile, Clinton already started her campaign in Iowa as she is already talking to small groups personally. This is to make sure that she is listening to the sentiments and the issues of people from different states.
