"Just Got Paid" singer Johnny Kemp died in Jamaica at the age of 55.
The R&B singer was reportedly found floating at a beach in Montego Bay on Thursday morning, but no actual cause of death has been revealed as of late, according to Statesmen News.
Police officers believe Kemp arrived in Jamaica on board a cruise ship and was on vacation but failed to provide any specifics in relation to his untimely demise.
According to multiple sources, Kemp was schedule to go on a Caribbean cruise this week on board The Tom Joyner Foundation, Fantastic Voyage Cruise.
The cruise line released a statement following his death to confirm that Kemp was not on board the ship at the time of his death.
"We have received confirmation that Johnny Kemp passed away. We do not have any other details. We can confirm he was not on the ship for the Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage Cruise," the statement read.
Meanwhile, Kemp was recognized for his hit song "Just Got Paid" and received a Grammy Award for it in 1989. At that time, he was competing against two equally remarkable singers, Bobby Brown and Luther Vandross, the Daily Mail reported.
"Just Got Paid" topped the U.S Billboard R&B chart and was reprised by the boy band N'Sync in the year 2000. The song became part of the band's "No Strings Attached" album.
In recent years, Kemp has been performing at various musical events across the United States. He is survived by his wife, Deirdre Fisher-Kemp and their two sons.
