The new Shanghai Natural Museum, the first themed natural museum in the world, officially opened to the public on Sunday.

Located in the Jing'an Sculpture Park, the museum is able to receive 800,000 to 1,200,000 visitors every year.

It is reported that the museum owns nearly 290,000 collections from all over the world. More than 11,000 samples and models are on long-term display, including over 1,000 specimens of rare species.

The museum will be closed every Monday, except for April 20, the first Monday after it opens.

No selfie stick or camera tripod is allowed in the museum.
