The 2016 Volt will be available in two trim design. The 2LT Hatchback and the 2LZ Premier. The 2LZ trim has added options like automatic parking, wireless charging for smartphones and other devices, eight Bose speakers and a comfort package that includes heated steering wheel, heated front seats and heated mirrors.

Among major perks added to the new 2016 model are Wi-Fi hotspot capability, two additional airbags, a rear vision camera and the touch-screen console's display was upgraded to 8-inches, according to Hybrid Cars.

Volt chief engineer Andrew Farah said, "There was speculation that the engine would be smaller, have fewer cylinders, or be turbocharged. What this really comes down to, with the new higher-compression, direct injection, larger displacement engine, is that we can get the same amount of power at any point we want with lower rpm."

Compared to the first-generation Volt, which uses one large motor and a one smaller engine, the newer model's engines are almost similar in size which enables the both of it to share the workload evenly. The cars combined electrical power is 149 horsepower with an upgraded torque of 294 pounds-per-feet, according to Car and Driver.

As for the cars mileage, GM said that it scores 41MPG on gas and 102MPGe on electricity. The company added that the 2016 Volt will be quicker compared to its predecessor. Test drive shows that it can reach zero to 60mph in 8.4 seconds.
