Russia plans to hold grand revelries commemorating the 70th-year anniversary of the country and its allies' victory in the World War II. In Russia, WWII is called the Patriotic War.

The leaders of 26 countries have confirmed their attendance in the event, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Alexander Lukashevich.

Moscow also invited military units from 16 countries to take part in the military parade. To date, 10 countries have confirmed their attendance.

Also participating in the celebration are Word War II veterans from the former Soviet republics, Israel and other nations who were part of the anti-Axis coalition. However, U.S., U.K., France and Germany leaders said that they cannot make it on the revelry.

According to the Russia-run news agency TASS, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will also be attending, citing a U.N. source.

The revelry will include the military parade as well as a reception at the Grand Kremlin Palace and an evening concert in Red Square.

Earlier in April, the Russian government honored 53 Chinese veterans who stayed and worked in Moscow during the war. The event, which was held in the Russian embassy in Beijing, is also part of the commemoration of the WWII's end.
