Professor Stephen Hawking and Zayn Malik recently made headlines together when the legendary physicist and cosmologist was asked about the young singer's recent decision to leave One Direction.

Hawking appeared as a 3D hologram at the Sydney Opera House on April 25 from his physical location at the Cambridge University in the United Kingdom when he was asked, "What do you think is the cosmological effect of Zayn leaving One Direction and consequently breaking the hearts of millions of teenage girls across the world?"

"Finally, a question about something important," joked Hawking, who was there to speak about ALS diagnosis, the mysteries of the universe and the future of the Earth, Buzz Feed reported.

Hawking advised any heartbroken young girl "to pay close attention to the study of theoretical physics because one day, there may well be proof of multiple universes."

According to Hawking, it would not be beyond the realms of possibility that there is another different universe somewhere outside of our own universe, in which Malik is still in One Direction.

Moreover, Hawking joked that the girl who asked the question about Malik "may like to know that in another possible universe, she and Zayn are happily married."

With a high definition video stream provided by Cisco, DVE Telepresence Holographic Live Stage technology was responsible for the holographic image of Hawking, who was joined onstage by his daughter Lucy Hawking and physicist Paul Davies, CIO reported.

Recently, Eddie Redmayne won an Oscar for his portrayal of the physicist and cosmologist in the 2014 film titled "The Theory Of Everything."
