The Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 starts filming in late 2016 with two new directors and will feature Josh Brolin reprising his role as the supervillain Thanos that destroyed half the Universe to prove his eternal love for Mistress Death.

And more good news for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): The Infinity War series will be followed-up by Captain Marvel and the Inhumans in 2018. Make Mine Marvel!

Marvel also said Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & 2 will be shot back-to-back. Filming is expected to begin in 2016 and is to last for nine months. Filming for Part 1 and Part 2 was initially scheduled to start in late 2015.

Marvel said Avengers: Infinity War. Part 1 is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2018. Part 2 is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.

Marvel also announced Anthony and Joe Russo will return to MCU to direct Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1 and Part 2. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely will write both movies.

MCU fans will be delighted to know Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Mark Ruffalo will return as your favorite Marvel superheroes. No word yet on Scarlett Johansson, though.

"You plan around the Marvel responsibilities. You have to," said Evans.

"We start the 'Infinity War,' I think, sometime in the third quarter. Fall or winter of 2016. That's going to be like nine months to shoot both movies back to back", according to Entertainment Weekly.

But these fantastic Marvel superheroes will have their hands full against Thanos (played again by Josh Brolin), a mutant member of the race of superhumans known as the Titanian Eternals bent on acquiring all six Infinity Gems to activate the Universe-destroying Infinity Gauntlet. And Thanos is going through all this trouble to prove his undying love for Mistress Death.

Joss Whedon, director of the hit movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, knew as early as January it was "very doubtful" he would be involved in The Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2.

The MCU movies have revealed the Space, Mind, Power and Aether gems. The Infinity Gauntlet was briefly seen in "Thor."
