Spoiler alert: This update recaps the highlights of "The Flash" Season 1 Episode 22. Read on at your own risk.

Barry (Grant Gustin) fulfills his promise to Iris West (Candice Patton); Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) is finally rescued. Iris sees the engagement ring that Eddie wanted to give her. However, in the end, the two break-up. Eddie tells Iris about the 2024 revelation shared by the fake Harrison Wells a.k.a. Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanagh).

Cisco (Carlos Valdes) realizes Eobard Thawne is on a mission to reactivate the particle accelerator at the S.T.A.R. Labs. Not wanting to kill the metahumans, the team decides to send them off to Lian Yu. (The Lian Yu island was first introduced in "Arrow" also on The CW.)

"The Flash" Season 1 Episode 22 marks the return of Barry's nemesis, Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller). The Flash commissions his assistance, but later regrets his decision.

Toward the end of the episode The Flash is finally able to confront Reverse Flash a.k.a. Eobard Thawne. The two speedsters face-off, but Barry proves to be slower. The Arrow (Stephen Amell) leaves Nanda Parbat to slow down the big bad Thawne. Firestorm (Robbie Amell) blasts him off in the end. It is a win for Barry Allen - for now.

"The Flash" Season 1 Episode 23, titled "Fast Enough," airs May 19 on The CW. This is the show's first season finale.
