The Android platform is home to some of the most popular mobile games ever released. This list presents the top five free-to-play games currently out in the market. All the games included in the list are free to be downloaded but some has in-game app purchase options.

This game has been on top of any Android game list since it was released in October 2013. Developed by Supercell, the game has an average daily user of 8.5 million players.

The game's mechanics is simple. Build a town and protect it by constructing defensive buildings. Train units that can be used to attack other player's town.

Two Dots
As the name suggests, this game is the sequel to the widely-popular "Dots" game. The game's developer, Playdots, improved the game by adding more challenges, enhanced in-game animation, additional bonuses and upgraded visual presentation.

The gameplay mechanics still remains very simple yet addictive, form a square by connecting same-colored dots.

Angry Birds Go!
This game gives the once popular "Angry Birds" game a fresh new twist. It is a racing game that pits the "Angry Birds" characters through different terrains. "Angry Birds Go!" has a gameplay similar to "Mario Kart."

Players control the in-game characters by tilting their devices towards their desired direction.

Badlands
This game presents an indie vibe presents a dark, weird and gloomy world. Developed by Frogmind, this game is also available in iOS and has won the 2013 iPad Game of the Year award. In this game, players guide a group of forest creatures through a series of obstacles, according to Android Pit.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft
This game is based on Blizzard's "World of Warcraft." It is a card game where players can create their deck by winning cards through battle with other players. The game is free but players have the option to purchase in-game booster packs and quest add-ons, according to Tech Radar.
