Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized on Tuesday “firm faith” and “absolute loyalty” to the Communist Party of China (CPC) amid challenges to national stability in the country.

Xi made the remarks during a meeting with several top officials from China's national security agencies.

National security agencies should enforce strict discipline within their ranks and forge a team that is "determined, pure, trustworthy, devoted and competent," Xi said at the meeting.

According to Xi, China is facing more complex and rapidly changing domestic and international situations with huge risks, and security agencies have the tough task of safeguarding national security and social stability.

The central leadership places great importance on national security and will step up efforts to prevent and crack down on activities that will compromise it, Xi added, urging Party and government departments to value and support the work of the agencies.

Praising the national security agencies and their staff as "loyal guardians" and "dedicated heroes," Xi said that the Party and the Chinese people will never forget their contributions.

Meng Jianzhu, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, pledged that national security agencies will implement Xi's instructions and follow the undivided leadership of the central government.

Led by the "overall national security outlook" promoted by Xi, the agencies will learn from their previous achievements and experiences, sharpen their abilities and safeguard national security and interests, Meng said.
