"Game of Thrones" season 5's latest episode featured one of the most awaited events in the series - the meeting of Daenerys Targaryen and Tyrion Lannister - even if it hasn't been written in the books yet.

HBO aired episode 7 on May 24, Sunday, revealing a scene absent from the books written so far. Even though the two dynasty outcasts have come so close since the season's premier, when Varys had put Tyrion through a task, the meeting was unexpected.

Nevertheless, it was shocking and at the same time, delightful for the viewers.

"It's time for these two to get together," co-creator David Benioff said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Tyrion Lannister, played by Peter Dinklage, presented himself in Mereen's newly opened fighting pits to the Queen of Dragons, portrayed by Emilia Clarke. This was the intriguing scene that ended this week's episode.

The early meeting between the two iconic characters made sense, creatively speaking, the "GOT" showrunner explained. Bringing them close together without actually making them meet this season would have been frustrating for everyone.

But, there's no better explanation for the unexpected decision, it "just felt right," Benioff added.

While many cheered on this twist, Benioff acknowledged that it could be blasphemous to some fans, especially those who favor faithfulness in the books, ABC News reported.

Viewers anticipate next week's episode, "Hardhome", where Tyrion and Daenerys will have their first conversation. In addition, fans wonder whether Tyrion will replace Ser Barristan as Daenerys' new senior adviser as the season progresses.

Adapted from George R.R. Martin's books, "GOT" has become the most anticipated series on television. In the latest novel, "A Dance with Dragons", the meeting has not taken place, but the showrunners opted to retain the intense pacing of the show.
