It turns out Witherspoon has been asked several times about how she feels about playing the former US First Lady.  Her reply has always been that she has tackled such a role in the 1999 film, "Election," The Hollywood Reporter reported. The "Wild" star has opted to focus on creating films, particularly those that are geared towards female audiences.

Multiple stories have hounded the pretty and bankable actress who delighted fans worldwide when she portrayed Elle Woods in the 2001 comedy hit "Legally Blonde." Several months ago, news circulated that Witherspoon and her husband, entertainment agent Jim Toth, were divorcing. Recently, there were talks that the actress is pregnant anew. The report came after the actress was spotted looking like she had a baby bump. The actress has yet to confirm all the rumored news.

Meantime, fans are looking forward to seeing Reese portray the cute character in the "Peter Pan" spinoff. Live action flicks like "Maleficent" featuring Angelina Jolie have been met with overwhelming response in recent years.

Some of the other actresses who have landed great female roles in live action flicks are Lily James in "Cinderella" and Emma Watson as Belle in "Beauty and the Beast."  Fans are thrilled that Witherspoon will play Peter Pan's fairy sidekick in "Tink."
