The upcoming iOS 9, codenamed Monarch, will feature under-the-hood improvements as well as software optimization. Mac OS X 10.11, codenamed Gala, will also use the same approach.

Since the release of iPhone 5, iPhone 4 was not included in iOS updates. According to Vine Report, Apple is optimizing iOS 9 in order to support older devices to boost the devices' performance as well as fix some bugs and glitches.

Several reports also claim that the upcoming iOS 9 will integrate the San Francisco typeface, currently used by the Apple Watch, into iPhone devices. The font is also rumored to be the default typeface of all iOS devices including Mac.

On the security aspect, Apple is reported to be developing a new security system codenamed Rootless. The new security system can detect and clear out malware as well as secure user's sensitive information. It is reported that Rootless will target the jailbreaking community by preventing users, even with administrator clearance, direct access to protected files.
