Jeremy Lin kicked off his offseason training receiving one-on-one point guard tutorial from former Los Angeles Lakers teammate and future Hall of Famer Steve Nash at the Lakers training facility in El Segundo, California.

Lin, who will enter a very crucial free-agency period in his career, resorted to one of the best point guard in history to help him polish his playmaking skills and find more consistency in his game.

In a report by Serena Winters of Lakers Nation, the two-time MVP confirmed that he will spend several hours of training with the 26-year old Lin. Nash was unable to play any regular-season game last season due to chronic back problems - which ultimately forced him to retire - but he was instrumental in helping Jordan Clarkson have a phenomenal rookie year.

Lin is hoping the same with Nash, whose playmaking genius changed the dynamics of the game forever. After dealing with up-and-down trends for three seasons (two with the Houston Rockets and one with the Lakers), the former Harvard standout is looking for stability in his career, and he believes Nash is the guy who will take him to the next level.

First off, working out with top-caliber point guard like Nash is a great way to start offseason training. Lin, who was yearning for mentorship from the playmaker last season, can finally learn the nuances of being a consistent playmaker in a point guard-driven league.

Will this partnership with Stevie bring out the best in him? Absolutely, even Lakers head coach Byron Scott admitted that Nash would do wonders for Lin's development because the two share similarities in their game. Both products of Mike D'Antoni high-octane offenses, Nash and Lin thrive in a free flowing system that features pick-and-roll and run-and-gun plays.

In short, Nash is a perfect Jedi to a still unpolished padawan like Lin. This partnership might be a bit late to save his Lakers stint, but the timing couldn't have come better for the Asian-American star. Moreover, working out with Nash would also suggest that Lin is leaning towards playing for a team 'where he fits the most' and contribute immensely through his pick-and-roll brilliance.

Lin started his offseason on a right track, and who knows how big of an impact Nash would make for his game. After a hum-hum season, the future is certainly bright for Linsanity!
