With the new "Spider-Man" film upcoming, it is rumored that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures will be making their choice for the iconic web slinger within the next week.
According to Deadline, the actor short list has been trimmed down to four actors, namely "The Impossible" actor Tom Holland, "Red Band Society" star Charlie Rowe, Matthew Lintz, and Charlie Plummer. Holland and Rowe are the front-runners while Lintz and Plummer are still in conflict.
Holland and Rowe were among the six actors battling for the role of the iconic superhero, which also included "Ender's Game" star Asa Butterfield, "Deliverance Creek" actor Judah Lewis, "Kill the Messenger" star Lintz, and "Boardwalk Empire" actor Plummer.
Meanwhile, sources told Birth Movies Death that the shortlist in fact has two actors, Holland and Rowe. According to the publication, fans will possibly know the final decision of Marvel and Sony soon and with Butterfield out, another English actor might be donning the "Spider-Man" costume.
Spider-Man is set to debut in Joe and Anthony Russo's "Captain America: Civil War" before his upcoming solo film. The superhero is reported to join Iron Man's team, who believes that superheroes should submit their identities to the government and the public, which is also known as the superhero registration act.
"Captain America: Civil War" is set to hit the big screen on May 6, 2016 while the new "Spider-Man" film is slated to premiere in theaters on July 28, 2017.
